All New Volvo S60 R-Design Review – 2021

Compared with the “elder” S90, the S60 has a more dynamic and eye-catching appearance with the package of sports decoration R-Design from the Nordic automaker and Dynamic Scandinavian design philosophy. Black paint details that accentuate the S60 R-Design include the grille, front bumper, fog lamps and rearview mirrors.

The tail section has a square shape, giving a strong feel with a dark rear bumper with a chrome-rimmed dual exhaust cluster. The familiar large C-shaped stylized LED taillights on the S90 also appear in the S60.

In the R-Design version, the Volvo S60 is equipped with 18-inch sporty 5-spoke design wheels. The Swedish sedan is the largest in its segment. Length x width x height is 4,761 x 1,850 x 1,431 mm and the wheelbase is 2,872 mm.

The S60 R-Design cockpit maintains Volvo’s signature interior design style. The tablo board has few lines and button reductions. The 9-inch central touch screen integrates most of the vehicle’s functions, from the infotainment system, to the air conditioning adjustment to the operation of safety features.

The main materials of the interior are high-quality metal and leather. Leather seats combine with fabric and decorative embroidery. The front seats have an electric function and 2 memory positions.

The rear seats are spacious and comfortable, allowing adults 1.7 m tall to have ample legroom and ceiling. Particularly, the middle seat position will be less comfortable when there is an air conditioner, and the floor is not flat due to the drive shaft.

Compared to other models in the same segment, the Volvo S60 R-Design has a better comfort list. Notable features include a 12.3-inch digital speedometer, speed display on HUD, 4-zone automatic climate control, Qi wireless phone charger, window Panorama sky or 14-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dirac Unison sound processing technology.

Under the hood of the S60 R-Design is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine with a maximum capacity of 250 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. This parameter is a bit less than the power of the Mercedes C300 AMG or the BMW 330i M Sport. In return, Volvo’s sedan is the only name in the segment with all-wheel drive.

The Volvo S60 R-Design has an 8-speed automatic transmission, a steering wheel with a sports paddle shifters and optional 5 driving modes. Manufacturer announced acceleration 0-100 km / h takes 6.4 seconds.
The outstanding safety features of the Volvo S60 include City Safety with integrated collision warning, automatic braking and Pilot Assist with intelligent driving assistance with lane keeping, adaptive cruise control.
