The Acura MDX 2022 launches with an advanced direct injection 3.5-liter i-VTEC ™ V6 engine rated at 290 hp and 267 lb.-ft. Maximum torque (both net SAE). It incorporates an array of advanced friction reduction technologies that increase fuel efficiency and power, and features a cross-flow magnesium intake, distinctive “tumor” intake, piston shape and 11.5: 1. I-VTEC ™ (Electronic Lifting Control and Intelligent Variable Valve Timing) for intake valves are combined with Variable Cylinder Management ™ (VCM ™) for expansion power range and maximize fuel efficiency. For the first time, the MDX 2022 adopts the Active Shading Mesh. Under certain conditions, the shutter in the lower grille closes to divert air around the vehicle, thereby reducing aerodynamic drag. When the need for cooling air increases, the shutters will reopen.
For the first time ever, the 3.5-liter V6 in the MDX is mated to the Acura’s 10-speed automatic with Sequential SportShift and standard paddle shifters. The gearbox offers a wider range of gear ratios, more discrete gears, 4-speed direct, and a lower start than the previous 9-speed automatic.
The MDX 2022 with front-wheel drive received an EPA rating of 19 mpg in city / 26 highway / 22 combined, while the MDX with Super Processing ™ all-wheel drive received an EPA rating of 19 mpg city / 25 highway / 21 combined
