Honda has just launched Rebel 1100 2021 in the UK. This cruiser model shares an engine with the CRF1100L Africa Twin.
In addition to the 2021 CRF1100L Africa Twin, Honda also introduced another 1,100 cc model in Europe – the Rebel 1100. Direct competition with the Harley-Davidson Iron 1200 and the Indian Scout, the Honda Rebel 1100 gives the rider a comfortable ride.
Powering the Rebel 1100 is a 2-cylinder engine block, 1,084 cc, producing 85.8 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 98 Nm torque at 4,750 rpm. This engine block meets Euro5 emission standards. Compared to the two opponents, the Rebel 1100’s power was in the middle. Harley-Davidson Iron 1200 is 66 hp while the Indian Scout has a more impressive capacity – 100 horsepower.
Using engines similar to Africa Twin, the Rebel 1100’s engine has been tweaked to accommodate the cruiser. Accordingly, the Japanese automaker has adjusted the exhaust system, valve opening / closing time to give a characteristic driving feeling.
Honda offers two gearbox options for the Rebel 1100, including a standard 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission. With a DCT gearbox, customers can choose an automatic or shift gear with the lever in the left switch cluster.
This cruiser model has 4 driving modes including Standard, Rain, Sport and User. User is a user mode that can be individually set. The driving mode combined with the electronic throttle system gives different driving experience, based on the settings of the traction control system, the engine brake. The wheelbase of both versions is 1,520 mm. Compared with the Rebel 500, the Rebel 1100 is larger on all measures although the overall difference is not much.
With a ground clearance of 120 mm and a seat height of 700 mm, the Rebel 1100 is a model suitable for long journeys.
Vehicles using 5-spoke cast aluminum wheels size 18 inches at the front and 16 inches at the back. The brake system includes monobloc 4-piston brake calipers, 330 mm disc brake at the front and single-piston brake calipers, 256 mm brake disc at the rear.
The lighting system of Rebel 1100 is similar to the “junior” models. Round front light, 175 mm in size with 4 LED projector bulbs inside. LED taillights have a more modern oval shape.
The clock on the Rebel 1100 is still a negative LCD, but is made larger than the Rebel 500. This meter displays basic information such as the number of settings, fuel consumption, speed, rpm, temperature, etc. driving mode… The indicators have been moved to a separate section on the right.
The Rebel 1100 has a 16.5 liter fuel tank. Underneath the saddle is a 3-liter storage space, integrated with a USB-C port. Honda has not announced the price for Rebel 1100 2021. Surely this cruiser model will cost more than Rebel 500 (£ 5,000).
