Land Rover Defender Crash Test – 2022

VIDEO: Land Rover Defender Crash Test. Euro NCAP has just announced the latest crash safety test results for seven models, including Land Rover Defender, Honda e, Audi A3 Sportback, Seat Leon, Isuzu D-Max, Kia Sorento and Hyundai i10.


The Land Rover Defender model is tested using the RHD 110 bodywork, achieving a maximum five-star safety rating, with a specific score of 85% in the adult and child protection category, 71% for pedestrians and 79 % in safety support category.

The Sorento, the D-Max European version and the two A3 siblings with Leon are also rated for maximum safety, but the Honda e is ineligible for the highest rating.

The Honda e electric supermini only achieved 4 stars, with adult and child protection rated 76 and 82% respectively, and 62% with 65% in the two categories of Pedestrian Assistance and Safe.

The Hyundai i10 city is even worse, in the full-width test, the driver’s pelvis slips under the seat belt. In addition to the limited automatic emergency braking function, the car only achieved 3 star rating.

Euro NCAP Secretary-General Michiel van Ratingen said: “Poor compatibility with inter-vehicle crashes has been an issue for many years. Now, in 2020, we have a face-to-face test that can gauge how well a vehicle is performing in this regard and possibly penalize underperforming models. This is the first time this test is being used to evaluate safety, and may help vehicle designs with better design and compatibility in the future.

In addition to the aforementioned models, safety experts in Europe have also evaluated a number of electric cars such as the Renault Captur E-Tech, hybrid versions of the Peugeot 3008 and 508, plus the e-208. running entirely on electricity, all rated at 5 stars./.
