The concept of the Jeep Magneto electric vehicle was introduced

Jeep’s electric model is equipped with 2 gearboxes, 4×4 drive system and is capable of accelerating 0-96 km / h in 6.8 seconds.

Jeep has just introduced a new electric vehicle concept called Magneto. This SUV is built on the chassis of the 3-door Jeep Wrangler version with a short wheelbase. The interior / exterior design of the Jeep Magneto is almost identical to the “elder” with the vertical grille, the metal front / rear bumper or square wheel recesses.

What makes Jeep Magneto different is the layout of the powertrain. The electric motor is under the bonnet similar to traditional cars instead of right on the wheel axis like the popular electric cars today.

The power from the electric motor is transmitted to the 2 axes of Magneto through a 6-speed manual gearbox. The SUV is also equipped with an auxiliary gearbox with a 4: 1 gear ratio similar to the Wrangler to aid in bad roads, requiring a lot of traction.

Jeep says Magneto’s electric motor has an 800 V rating and is designed to replace the 3.6L (285 hp, 370 Nm) V6 petrol engine on the Wrangler Rubicon. Jeep’s electric SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 96 km / h in 6.8 seconds.

Magneto has a total of 4 battery clusters scattered instead of concentrated underneath the floor like many other electric cars. The first battery cluster is located where the fuel tank of the Wrangler model is, the second cluster is mounted just above the first and fixed to the chassis, the third is located in the engine compartment, the last is located in the compartment. rear view. The total battery capacity of the Jeep Magneto is 70 kWh, the charging time and distance parameters are not announced by the US automaker.

Magneto is considered an important model for Jeep to evaluate and choose the development direction for the future off-road SUV, when car manufacturers are gradually turning to electric cars and eliminating internal combustion engines.
