The mystery of the desert metal block is revealed by Internet users

This plausible explanation is likely to disappoint fans of the alien theory.

On November 24, a mysterious metal block appeared in the desert of Utah, USA, causing a stir among Internet users around the world. The block was discovered by local officials while tallying sheep from the plane. The shiny, silver mass of metal protrudes from the ground amidst the large red rocks in the desert.

Utah Community Safety officials said the object was about 3-3.5m tall, apparently intentionally buried in the ground. However, they refused to reveal the exact location of the strange object out of fear of a curious crowd flocking to the remote, dangerous wilderness.

The scene of a block of metal lying in the middle of the wilderness is like in the famous 2001 fantasy movie: A Space Odyssey. After the discovery of the Utah Department of Community Safety, Internet users came up with many different theories.

Instead of theories originating from aliens, Reddit members made more possible speculation. They determined the relative position of the metal block after following the Utah Community Safety Department helicopter flight. From there, they assumed that this strange object was located in the area between the Canyonlands National Park and the Colorado River.

Once they narrowed the position, they used Google Earth to determine when the rock appeared here. Google Earth image data shows that the rock has appeared for a quite long time, from August 2015 to October 2016.

Meanwhile, the sci-fi crew Westworld is filming in the area. So it is most likely that the studio staff did not clean the filming props. Or, someone who is a fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey deliberately put the metal block behind to surprise the world with the same scene as in the Kubrick film.

Nearby locations are also where film and television crews choose to film, from newly-produced films like 127 Hours, Mission: Impossible 2 to Western-themed films from the 40s. century ago. However, the possibility that the film crews going back to the West will survive the 3 m high metal sphere is also unlikely.

The above explanation may make those who want to believe in some extraterrestrial forces will be disappointed. However, it is difficult to find a more reasonable cause to explain the origin of this object.
