Nissan X-Trail 2021 will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L 3-cylinder engine, which helps the car to achieve better performance at low rpm and more fuel efficient.
The 4th generation Nissan X-Trail has just been launched in China. The vehicle is equipped with a VC Turbo engine. This is Infiniti’s high-tech variable-compressed air turbocharged engine.
In the US, the Nissan Rogue (another name for the X-Trail) is equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. The car has a capacity of 181 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, combined with a CVT gearbox.
According to FuelEconomy of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2021 Nissan Rouge will switch to a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine, 8-speed automatic transmission and optional AWD drive system. Specific specifications have not been announced.
“Nissan often applies potential technologies to existing models. It is planning a small pilot program of the new drivetrain, which will be used on the Nissan Rogue 2021,” said a spokesman. Nissan, Josh Clifton said.
Also according to the EPA, the new 1.5 turbocharged Nissan Rogue engine has an average fuel consumption of about 7.14 liters / 100 km for the front-wheel drive, the AWD is about 7.35 liters / 100 km. Meanwhile, the current generation of Nissan Rogue has fuel consumption of about 8.4-12.8 liters / 100 km. The new 8-speed automatic transmission is also rated for a more dynamic driving experience than a CVT gearbox.
Rogue is the flagship product of Nissan in the US market, contributing nearly 28% of sales in 2020, so it is necessary to improve this SUV model.
