The new brand’s first model, simply named Avatr 11, a high-tech electric coupe SUV, will hit the Chinese market in the second quarter of 2022. Avatr Technology is the successor to the joint venture between Changan-NIO, which was first launched in 2018. Under the current structure, Changan is responsible for the overall design, development, and production of the Avatr vehicle. The second largest shareholder, CATL, is responsible for developing the battery pack and related software. The brand’s first model, the Avatr 11 is built on Changan’s EP1 electric vehicle chassis. Infotainment, connectivity, and all driver-assistance functions are bundled into one “smart grid” platform called CHN, jointly developed by Changan, CATL and Huawei. Its combined processing computing power is 400 TOPS.

Visually, the Avatr 11 has a unique design with high-slung headlights and an extremely smooth body. However, the most interesting design part is located at the rear, with fastback rear doors, narrow rear glass doors, very high rear with integrated spoiler. It can be said that this model looks different from everything available in the Chinese market right now.

Avatr claims that the 11 coupe SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 seconds, has the ability to quickly charge the battery with a high-voltage source of more than 200 kW and has a range of 700 km under the NEDC cycle. Details on technical specifications will be announced in the spring of 2022, and according to the expected plan, the Avatr brand will in turn launch three more electric models by 2025.
