Ducati Multistrada V4 Introducing 2021

After a period of disclosure, Ducati has officially introduced the Multistrada V4 2021. This large adventure motorcycle is equipped with the new Ducati V4 Granturismo engine, and also has the same driver assistance technologies as cars. As such, the V4 will replace the 1260 variant to become the most premium version of the Ducati Multistrada line.

2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 comes in Standard, S and S Sport editions. The prices of the three 2021 Multistrada V4 models in Europe are 18,990 euros (22,270 dollars), 21,990 euros (25,790 dollars) and 23,790 euros (27,900 dollars). The main competitors of the Ducati Multistrada V4 are the BMW R 1250 GS, the Triumph Tiger 1200 or the KTM 1290 Super Adventure.

The most anticipated upgrade in the new Ducati Multistrada is the V4 Granturismo engine. This is the first Ducati engine without the Desmodromic gas distribution system, a technology that is the symbol of the Italian motorcycle company. According to the manufacturer, the new exhaust valve system is more durable and only needs maintenance after the vehicle has operated for 60,000 km, helping Ducati users save on usage costs.

The V4 Granturismo engine has a lower speed than the 1,103 cc V4 Desmosedici Stradale engine, the maximum rpm is limited to under 12,000 rpm. At the same time, with a piston diameter greater than 2 mm, the V4 Granturismo engine has a total capacity of 1,158 cc.

Maximum power specification is nearly 168 hp at 10,500 rpm and maximum torque of 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm. Ducati Multistrada V4 meets Euro 5 emissions standards. The car is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with the function of 2-way Ducati Quick Shift Up & Down.

Compared with previous Multistrada models, the overall appearance of the Ducati Multistrada V4 is refined in a modern and youthful direction. Lighting clusters, navigation lights and LED taillights have a sharper design. The body of the car has more accents from the details of the heat exhausts of the cooling system and the spoiler like the superbike Ducati Panigale V4.

The prominent feature in the Multistrada V4 highlighted by Ducati is the adaptive cruise control system that works thanks to the front-mounted radar. In addition, the Ducati adventure model also has a blind spot warning function, which was previously only available in cars. Safety technology is provided by Bosch and the Ducati Multistrada V4 2021 is the first motorcycle to be equipped with these two systems.

Front / rear wheels are 19 inches and 17 inches in diameter, respectively, depending on the version that the car uses spokes with off-road tread or cast rim and multi-purpose tires. Ducati says the ground clearance of the Multistrada V4 is 46 mm better than the Multistrada 1260. When pouring 90% of the 21.2 liter fuel tank, the Ducati Multistrada V4 weighs 240 kg, while the Multistrada V4 S weighs 243 kg.

The saddle is designed with 2 separate floors and has a spacious area, combined with redesigned sitting posture that promises to help the driver and the rear passenger feel more comfortable when going away. The front seat is adjustable in height from 810 mm to 875 mm.

Safety features of the Ducati Multistrada V4 feature in-cornering ABS, traction control, anti-slip assist, cross-slope start assist, angle-opening lights when cornering and the option to equip the system according to tire pressure monitoring.

The speedometer on the Ducati Multistrada V4 2021 is a color TFT, 5 inches in size in the regular version and 6.5 inches in the S, S Sport. The car has the ability to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth to use navigation maps, receive calls, customize songs to listen to music with wireless headphones.

In the S Sport version, Multistrada V4 is equipped with Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon material.

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the radar system of the Ducati Multistrada V4 has not been registered yet and is not currently eligible to operate in the US. Expected, adaptive cruise control technology on the new Multistrada V4 can be licensed and activated for use in the US from the summer of 2021. Currently, Ducati Multistrada V4 has no price in the US.
