According to the President of Ferrari, the electric supercar models will be launched by Ferrari in 2025.
John Elkann, president of Ferrari, told Autocar the company is planning to launch a fully electric model in four years. The application of new technology in motorsport and commercial racing is a great opportunity for Ferrari to uniquely create new car lines.
Elkann also said Ferrari is not in a hurry to produce electric cars, partly because current battery technology has yet to meet the needs of a supercar. He hopes that in the next five years the technology will be able to meet Ferrari’s requirements.
Most recently, Ferrari introduced to enthusiasts supercar model SF90 Spider, this is Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid convertible. SF stands for Scuderia Ferrari, Scuderia in Italian means the road.
SF90 Spider is equipped with a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, for a capacity of 769 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. This engine is combined with 3 electric motors to add 217 hp and 100 Nm. The total capacity of the SF90 Spider is 986 horsepower, maximum torque of 900 Nm.
