Kia’s 5-seater SUV is about to be released with a new, sharper appearance.
Based on a video of a 2022 Kia Sportage parked in a parking lot and disguised, Gotcha Cars’ design team made a sketch for the Korean 5-seater SUV.
Accordingly, the next generation of the Kia Sportage has a bolder look when the polygonal light cluster is combined with the LED position light. The tiger nose grille is expanded to almost occupy the entire front of the car.
Although there is no clear image at the rear, the rear is confirmed to have a horizontal LED taillight strip. The interior is expected to be changed to a more modern style.
According to Motor1, the new Kia Sportage shares the same chassis platform as the Hyundai Tucson 2021. Kia’s SUV is expected to have 2 wheelbase sizes depending on the market.
Most likely, the new Sportage will share the same engine with the Tucson “brother”. The standard engine is the 187 hp 2.5-liter I4, followed by a hybrid configuration consisting of an electric motor and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a total output of 226 hp. Alternatively, the Sportage 2022 can be equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine.
It is predicted that the Kia Sportage will be launched this April. The sale of this SUV may start at the end of the year in the US market.
