Lamborghini has officially launched the Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) supercar. “The Huracan STO brings all the excitement of a beautifully balanced super sports car, light weight and outstanding aerodynamics that emulates the feeling of driving and the excitement of the Super Trofeo, and is perfectly set up for The world’s most demanding racetracks but are born for the road “- CTO Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani said.
The radical aerodynamic improvements are applied to the Lamborghini Huracan STO, which was inspired by the racing cars of the Squadra Corse division. Huracan STO uses carbon fiber to more than 75% on all body panels. Take for example the front end, all (hood, fenders and front bumper) are combined into one to reduce the fixed details – this design is inspired by the rare supercar Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. There’s also a revamped front splitter that directs airflow down the car and a rear diffuser bunk.
The new rear fender is derived from the Super Trofeo EVO, which essentially acts as an inlet for the engine, allowing a 30% reduction in static pressure loss. Meanwhile, the rear engine compartment cover integrates the air slot and a dedicated air deflector to both cool the engine and optimize the vehicle’s aerodynamics. Finally, there’s a shark fin design, adjustable rear spoiler, new front brake cooling ducts and Brembo CCM-R brakes.
Thanks to that, the Huracan STO is considered to have the greatest downforce of all versions along with the best aerodynamic balance of a rear-wheel drive car – according to Lamborghini. Compared to the Huracan Performante, this new variant has 37% better aerodynamic efficiency and 53% higher pressure. Lamborghini also added three new driving modes to the ANIMA operating management system: STO, Trofeo and Pioggia.
