VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz G-Class unique version with ‘suicide’ door. German tuning company Hofele-Design has built a super unique Mercedes-Benz G-Class with hinged rear doors, the version is named Ultimate HG.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class Ultimate HG version is an upgraded product by a famous workshop in Germany – Hoefele Design. The most striking detail on the exterior is that the back door is designed to open upside down like the Rolls-Royce.
“Suicide doors” is the name given to a unique type of door in door technology, in which the door hinges in the second row are mounted at the rear instead of the front as the conventional door. That means 2 doors on the same side will open in opposite directions.
The reverse opening makes it easier to get in and out of the rear seats, while at the same time creating a luxurious and elegant look. However, because it is considered not as safe as a conventional door, only a few car manufacturers design the rear door in this form.
The G-Class is specially built to replace more traditional limousines. Hoefele’s G-Class cabin is transformed from a sporty look to a luxurious design similar to the S-Class models. Leather dashboard trim, steering wheel upholstery and seats use elegant white. It also features electrically operated side-up and down steps for the SUV’s substantial ground clearance, along with separate heated, ventilated and massage rear seats. The upholstery is a blend of Nappa leather and Alcantara.
Meanwhile, the rear seats are reworked to form business seats with 2 separate positions and with separate functional control clusters. The high-end features for the rear occupants have power reclining, massage, heating and cooling.
Hofele-Design also adds a rear panel with touch screen to control the functions of the seat and adorns the rear seat area in piano black lacquer with aluminum strips.
