Southern European customers will receive a Sony PlayStation 5 when purchasing a Ford Explorer 2021 plug-in hybrid.
What’s happening in Spain is what many American customers want, says Motor1. It’s a gift when someone buys a rechargeable hybrid Explorer (PHEV): Sony’s newest gaming console, which costs about $ 500.
The company said this special sales campaign starts from December 19 until the gifts run out, although there is no specific number on the number of PS5 machines included. On the Ford Spain website, an Explorer plug-in hybrid costs $ 97,200.
Ford first brought the 7-seat Explorer SUV to the Spanish market 20 years ago. Now, the plug-in hybrid is a representative element of the company’s electrification strategy.
Explorer hybrid electric charging combines 3.0 EcoBoost V6 petrol engine, an electric motor, a generator and 13.6 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The combination produces 451 horsepower, and 825 Nm of torque. This parameter turns Explorer PHEV into Ford’s most powerful hybrid model.
The fully electric driving mode helps the SUV run 42 km, while the average fuel consumption is 3.1 liters / 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 71 g / km. The battery can be charged with an external outlet, type 230V in 5 hours and 50 minutes, and in 4 hours and 20 minutes with the optional Ford Connected Wallbox wall charger, or at an appropriate public charging station.
The EcoBoost engine combines a 10-speed automatic transmission, an intelligent all-wheel drive system, a terrain management system and seven driving modes. Explorer PHEV has a towing capacity of up to 2,500 kg.
